Summer Tour 2008
is a week-long music day camp for musicians who want
to learn the how to’s of performing in a band.
All campers get the opportunity to showcase their
skills in a live, finale performance the last night
of camp. Ultimately, campers of all skill levels work
to become more creative, experienced and well-rounded
musicians. In order to reach new musical heights,
camp activities will include:
- Band Improvisation Sessions
— Being able to jam with other musicians is
a necessary skill for all successful musicians,
whether you sing, play piano, guitar, trumpet or
any other instrument. Summer Tour 2008 stresses
the importance of improvisation and the ability
of campers to play in a band. Our instructors work
to improve campers communication skills in a group
setting while they play in a band together.
- Activities—
Individual attention is key to developing musical
ability. The camp’s professional instructors
will work with each camper and their respective
instrument to create, expand and “fine tune”
the musician within through activity classes. Learning
first hand from professionals is an important tool
in understanding the music industry.
- Stage Time & Band
Rehearsals – Each musician is assured
frequent stage time where they will learn all the
important how to’s of performing in front
of a live audience. When not on stage, each band
will have extensive rehearsal time utilizing state-of-art
sound and performance equipment.
- Live Finale Performance
— Show off your hard work and new skills to
parents, family and friends as you perform live,
on stage the last night of camp. Campers can expect
a real rock concert experience as they perform on
stage with a professional sound and lighting rig.

- Music
Composition — Put your creativity,
thoughts and words to music as you learn the art
of music composition and the songwriting process.
Who Can Enroll
Whether you are in a band already,
a soloist, or want to become a part of a band for
a week, all are welcome to enroll. Musicians ages
9 and up with some musical training will be grouped
according to age and skill level. We encourage bands
to enroll all members so they can learn together and
enhance their sound. Whether you are a guitarist,
bassist, drummer, vocalist or piano player, we encourage

Camp Instructors
Music Matters employs only professional,
highly skilled and experienced musicians. Our instructors
are graduates of institutions like the Atlanta Institute
of Music, New York University, the Eastman School
of Music, Indiana University and the Leads College
of Music in England. Instructors have decades of experience
as music teachers, band directors, and stage performers.
Many are members of jazz bands, rock bands, R&B
groups and symphonies.
